The highly-anticipated HTC One M9+ powerhouse is now finally official, debuting at the company's 'More Than One' event on Wednesday, April 8, just as expected.
The smartphone leaked extensively ahead of its formal debut and it seems the rumors were spot on. The new HTC One M9+ comes with a 5.2-inch QHD display just as expected, boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset also retains the highly-acclaimed design of the HTC One series, rocking a sleek metal body and the same familiar form factor.
"HTC's One family is all about luxury and the continued pursuit of brilliance. The original design of the HTC One was grounded in a philosophy of "simple, crafted, and human," driven further by our goal of creating the first beautiful, seamless, all-metal phone. This philosophy and our belief in the power of great design have been carried forward in the new HTC One M9 and M9+," the company touts in a new blog post on Wednesday, April 8.
Other rumored specs that turned out to be true include 3GB of RAM, a Duo Camera setup on the rear consisting a 20-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel one, an UltraPixel front shooter, 32GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD card support for additional memory of up to 128GB.
What the leaks did not anticipate, however, is the processor. Instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip powering the flagship One M9, the new One M9+ packs a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2.2GHz.
The HTC One M9+ further boasts a fingerprint scanner with multi-directional sensors that will allow users to safely unlock their smartphone, as well as make secure payments. Other features include HTC BoomSound stereo front speakers with Dolby Audio surround sound, HTC Sense 7.0 with an enhanced BlinkFeed, and Android Lollipop.
HTC offered no details at this point regarding the price and launch date of its new One M9+ smartphone, and it remains unclear for now whether the handset will hit commercial availability outside of China. The company should provide additional information closer to launch, and we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more. In the meantime, check out the product page at this link for more details.
