The highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S6 will reportedly hit U.S. carriers on April 11, if newly-leaked information turns out to be accurate.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone is expected to be one of the hottest devices of this year, especially since it marks a notable change in design compared to its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy S5 launched last year received plenty of criticism for its band aid-like design and plastic build, and Samsung made sure not to repeat the same mistake with its latest flagship.
While some hoped to see a full-metal Samsung Galaxy S6, the new-generation flagship sports a metal frame and a glass back. Nevertheless, many prefer this new combination compared to the plastic design of previous Samsung flagships.
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge curved-display variant back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 earlier this month, but offered no exact launch or pricing details at the time.
The company has still not revealed such details, but some new information has now surfaced regarding the Galaxy S6's launch in the U.S.
According to a new report from Phone Arena, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will hit commercial availability in the U.S. on Monday, Apr. 11. Moreover, the handset will reportedly launch on all four major carriers on that date, which means that Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile should all have the Galaxy S6 in stock on Apr. 11. The publication received this information from a tipster who reportedly works for one of the four major U.S. carriers. The tipster reportedly learned from a Samsung sales rep for the Greater Midwest area that the Galaxy S6 will arrive on April 11 on all four major carriers, and company representatives are currently visiting various retail locations to demonstrate how the new flagship smartphone works.
Verizon Wireless is expected to start taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S6 on Apr. 1. When it comes to the intriguing Galaxy S6 Edge, meanwhile, it remains unclear at this point whether it will hit commercial availability on the same date as the "standard" Galaxy S6. The tipster did note, however, that the Galaxy S6 Edge would come in a "limited capacity."
We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned. In the meantime, make sure to take all leaks with a grain of salt.
