At least one high-end Microsoft Lumia will debut this year with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor on board, the chipmaker has revealed.

The Snapdragon 810 is Qualcomm's latest and greatest processor and will power a number of top-notch flagships this year, although Samsung may not be joining the party. Qualcomm has recently announced that it lost one major customer and that's likely Samsung, but the chipmaker has now offered more details regarding the OEMs that will pack its Snapdragon 810 in their 2015 devices.

In a new press release on Tuesday, Feb. 3, Qualcomm is boasting that several OEMs plan to launch Snapdragon 810-powered smartphones this year. We already knew that LG and Xiaomi were planning to pack the chipset into their new G Flex 2 and Mi Note, respectively, but Qualcomm also mentions other phone makers.

While praising Motorola, OPPO, and Sony, for choosing to go for the Snapdragon 810 for their upcoming flagships, Qualcomm further notes that the chip is also in the cards for Microsoft Lumia Windows Phone devices.

Not too long ago, reports noted that Microsoft would focus most of its efforts on affordable devices in the first part of this year, and would not launch a Lumia flagship until September 2015 at the earliest. While the timeframe remains unconfirmed, Qualcomm has now revealed that Microsoft's Lumia plans for this year do include the high-end Snapdragon 810.

"Microsoft and Qualcomm's long standing collaboration has allowed the two companies to offer compelling business, imaging, and entertainment experiences with Lumia smartphones running on Windows Phone," Qualcomm touts in its press release. "We look forward to continuing this relationship to deliver best in class Lumia smartphones, powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processors, and offer an unprecedented combination of processing power, rich multimedia, high-performance graphics and wireless connectivity for our customers."

Qualcomm doesn't note just when Microsoft plans to announce a Snapdragon 810-powered Lumia device, or how many such "best in class" Lumia smartphones it has in the pipeline, but the press release does confirm exciting plans for the Lumia lineup this year. Microsoft, for its part, made no comment in this regards so far, but we'll keep you up to date as soon as it does.
