An HTC tablet that just might be the much-rumored Google Nexus 9 has just passed the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), suggesting an imminent launch.

Google has yet to introduce any new Nexus devices this year, but it's expected to unveil its 2014 lineup in just a few days. Rumor has it that the company will revive its partnership with HTC for its next-generation large-screen Nexus tablet, which has leaked on several occasions so far as the Nexus 9.

Various reports have pegged the tablet's debut for mid-October, which is just a few days away, and the rumor mill will likely go into overdrive until then trying to anticipate what's to come.

While nothing concrete is available in regards to this purported HTC Nexus 9 tablet, a slate from the company has now dropped by the FCC, carrying model number 0P82100. The FCC listing confirms that this device is indeed a tablet, but it remains uncertain whether it's indeed the Nexus 9. As the FCC mainly deals with the device's radios and Wi-Fi antennas, the listing doesn't really reveal any specifications for the upcoming HTC tablet.

The FCC document in question does, however, reveal that the slate has received certification for most Wi-Fi standards (802.11 a/b/g/n), and it will also sport Wi-Fi communication on the 5.x GHz frequency, in addition to the regular 2.4GHz one. The tablet also appears to have passed tests for RFID, which indicates that it will be NFC-enabled.

Everything else remains unconfirmed at this point regarding the Google Nexus 9 tablet from HTC, but recent reports have suggested that it will be quite a powerful slate. The device is expected to pack a top-notch NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor under the hood, a Full HD display of roughly nine inches in size, and Google's latest Android L on board, among the highlights.

Some reports also suggested that the HTC Nexus 9 will come with premium pricing due to its high-end specs and features, but it's all in the rumor state at this point. In fact, all Nexus 9-related news are based solely on leaks and speculation for now, so it's best to take everything with a grain of salt until an official announcement. If this HTC tablet that just passed through the FCC is indeed the Nexus 9, we should see a formal debut soon enough. We'll stay on top of this matter and bring you the latest scoop as soon as it becomes available, so stay tuned.
