The recently-unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet is ready to hit 140 countries around the world by the end of next month, the company has announced.

Earlier this month, Samsung officially took the wraps off its pair of new Note devices, introducing the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note 4 Edge.

While the latter will take a little longer to hit commercial availability, the former will hit retail by end-October in 140 countries, the same number of countries the Galaxy Note 3 hit last year.

In Korea, meanwhile, Samsung has moved forward the Galaxy Note 4 launch to Sept. 26, in what is widely seen as a response to the launch of Apple's 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Apple and Samsung have long been archrivals, but the iMaker has never competed in the phablet category until now. The iPhone 6 Plus's launch reportedly prompted Samsung to speed up the release of its own Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung's president and head of sales and marketing of the IT & Mobile Communications division, DJ Lee, is very confident in the sales performance of the Galaxy Note 4, saying that early reception so far has been "awesome."

"As the originator of the Note category, Samsung takes immense pride and responsibility," Lee touted in the press release. "Galaxy Note 4, which maximized the usability of the large screen and S Pen, will take mobile user experience to a whole new level."

"Galaxy Note 4, since its first introduction in Berlin earlier this month, has garnered interest across the world," boasts the press release. "Especially with its advanced features and premium design, Galaxy Note 4 has been dubbed 'phablet, refined,' and 'kind of phablets.'"

The Galaxy Note Edge that debuted alongside the Note 4, meanwhile, is meant more for "niche markets," according to Lee, much like the curved-display Galaxy Round smartphone launched last year. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will nonetheless hit all four major carriers in the U.S. - AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and T-Mobile - but it will become commercially available later this year.

Considering that the Galaxy Note Edge won't hit Samsung's home country of South Korea until next month, however, it's safe to assume that a debut in the U.S. will occur in November at the earliest. Samsung typically launches its high-end devices in its first country first, and only later releases them to other markets.
