The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is now available for a discounted price through Amazon, as the retailer is offering the phablet for just $44 on a new two-year contract.

Samsung can be credited with creating the whole phablet trend, blurring the lines between smartphones and tablets. Its Galaxy flagships have become increasingly bigger, including the new-generation Galaxy Note that sports a massive 5.7-inch display.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega, however, is the largest phablet of them all, boasting a huge 6.3-inch display. This allows users to get the best of both worlds, enjoying the functionality of a smartphone and the screen of a small tablet in a single device. It's definitely not for everyone, but phablet fans appreciate the extra real estate the Galaxy Mega has to offer, especially when running two different apps in split-screen mode.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Mega is the biggest, but not the highest-end phablet out there. It has a 6.3-inch PLS HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and 1.5GB of RAM. The device comes with 16GB of internal storage capacity and a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB.

Other specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera with full HD video recording capabilities, a 1.9-megapixel front shooter, and connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The Samsung Galaxy Mega runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz nature UX on top. The phablet also sports an IR blaster that allows it to serve as a universal remote control with a built-in program guide. A large 3,200 mAh removable battery should provide decent performance.

While some may find the 6.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega just too big to operate as a smartphone, others may enjoy the large screen and the possibilities it offers. To phablet fans, Amazon's offer may be particularly appealing. The retailer is currently offering the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 for $44.00 when signing a new two-year contract with the carrier. As usual, Amazon is also offering free two-day shipping with the order.
