Verizon is reportedly getting ready to launch the Nokia Lumia 929 smartphone and Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet later this week, on Nov. 21.
The Nokia Lumia 929 has leaked in several photos and press shots so far, but Verizon has yet to make an official announcement. New information, however, now points to a precise release date for the Verizon-bound Windows Phone 8 powerhouse.
According to a new report, the Nokia Lumia 929 will join Verizon Wireless' lineup on Thursday, Nov. 21. The information comes from Nokia Power User, which claims to have received a tip from an alleged Verizon insider.
The Nokia Lumia 929 is expected to sport a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone will reportedly pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity, with no microSD card slot for additional memory. The handset is also expected to feature a 20-megapixel Nokia PureView camera with a dual-LED flash.
Other rumored specs include NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 with Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), wireless charging, and the very latest version of Windows Phone 8. The smartphone is expected to launch in two color options - white and black.
While the Nov. 21 launch date may be questionable for the Nokia Lumia 929, it does seem plausible for the Verizon Nokia Lumia 2520. AT&T has already announced that it will be launching Nokia's new Windows RT tablet on Nov. 22 and Verizon is expected to start offering the tablet around the same time. Moreover, Big Red has already put up a registration page for the Nokia Lumia 2520, which indicates an imminent launch. The Verizon Lumia 2520 will be available in red and black color options.
In terms of specs, the Lumia 2520 comes with a 10.1-inch full HD ClearBlack IPS LCD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. Other specs include a 6.7-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 4x digital zoom and auto focus, as well as a 2-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options include USB 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G LTE.
Keep in mind that Verizon has yet to make an announcement regarding launch dates for the Lumia 2520 and Lumia 929 devices, so it is advisable to all rumors with a grain of salt until official confirmation. With just a few days until the purported Nov. 21 launch date, however, we'll know the truth soon enough. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
