AT&T has slashed $100 off the pre-order price of the Nokia Lumia 1520, offering the phablet for just $99.99 when purchased online.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is not only the company's first phablet offering, but it's also the very first phablet to run Windows Phone. Microsoft's Windows Phone Update 3 (GDR3) has added the long-awaited support for larger screens and more powerful internals, and Nokia jumped the gun with its new Lumia 1520.
AT&T is set to launch the Nokia Lumia 1520 on Nov. 22, and now the carrier has cut $100 of the pre-order price, offering the device for $99.99 instead of the initial $199.99. This means that for $99.99, Windows Phone fans will be able to get a smartphone with a huge display, a powerful quad-core processor and a top-notch camera.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 sports a massive 6-inch full HD ClearBlack display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity, expandable up to 32GB via microSD. The supersized smartphone has a powerful 3,400 mAh battery (non-removable) and supports wireless charging.
In terms of camera, Nokia has packed a high-end 20-megapixel sensor, complete with the company's much-touted PureView technology and topped with Carl Zeiss optics. The 20-megapixel rear camera also sports optical image stabilization (OIS), enhanced settings, as well as various imaging features.
The Lumia 1520 will have some powerful rivals on the phablet market, as Samsung has recently launched its latest Galaxy Note 3 and HTC has started selling its HTC One Max phablet through Sprint. However, while there are plenty of Android phablets out there, the Lumia 1520 stands out from the crowd as it is the only one running on Windows Phone 8.
The AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 is now available for pre-order with a $99.99 price tag on-contract from the carrier's online store. AT&T will start shipping out the device on Nov. 19, with Nov. 22 set as the delivery date. AT&T is also offering free shipping with online purchase. The reduced price tag will likely be available only for a limited time, so interested buyers might want to take advantage of the offer while it lasts.
