Polaroid has announced a refreshed version of its Kids Tablet 2, which will come preloaded with Cartoon Network, Disney, and Marvel apps.

The upgraded Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 sports the same 7-inch design of its predecessor, but has several notable improvements on the software side and under the hood.

The new tablet for kids comes with a slightly improved processor compared to its predecessor, 1GB of RAM, and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Moreover, Polaroid has pre-loaded over 70 apps and e-books for children, complete with enticing offerings from Cartoon Network, Marvel and Disney. That's plenty of content available right out of the box, especially for a kid-friendly device. According to Polaroid, the pre-loaded content is worth over $100.

"Polaroid is pleased to introduce the second generation of its highly-popular, award-winning tablet specifically designed for children- The Polaroid Kids Tablet 2," reads the press release. "The 7.0" Kids Tablet 2 (PTAB780) features a stunning HD display, Dual-Core processor, and the Android 4.2 OS while still combining all the fun, entertainment, security, and durability kids and parents loved in the original version."

"Polaroid is bringing our 75 year tradition of instant sharing, fun and ease of use to a younger demographic with our Kids Tablet 2," said Polaroid President and CEO Scott Hardy. "Children will now have the opportunity to experience an award winning device similar in specs to their parents' tablets, but designed specifically to their needs and pre-loaded with content they want from our new partners, Disney, Marvel and Cartoon Network."

In terms of specifications, the new Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 sports a 7-inch capacitive HD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, a dual-core Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage capacity. It features both front and rear cameras, runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n.

The Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 is available from Toys "R" Us, both online and in-store, with a $149 suggested retail price. With the holiday shopping season right around the corner, this tablet may be a good choice for a Christmas present for the little ones.
