A new Motorola Droid smartphone has leaked in some images online, suggesting that the company is not yet done with handsets packing slide-out QWERTY keyboards.

Motorola just unveiled three new Droid smartphones for Verizon last month, but it now seems that Big Red is in for yet another Droid. The newly-leaked device seems reminiscent of Motorola's old habits for the original Droid line.

Chinese social network Weibo (via NewCellphonesBlog) has posted a batch of leaked photos allegedly showing off the upcoming Motorola Droid 5. While Motorola has recently embraced sleek, all-touch smartphones, this one will apparently sport the same type of slide-out QWERTY keyboard its predecessors boasted.

Engadget claims that the upcoming Verizon Motorola Droid 5 will have a display between 4.3 and 4.5 inches. Moreover, the handset will reportedly be dust- and water-resistant as well and will offer NFC and wireless charging capabilities.

The upcoming smartphone will, however, sport some notable differences over its QWERTY-packing predecessors. The big five-row keyboard is the first obvious change, but one of the leaked photos also shows a different camera interface with a neat shutter button on the touch screen. This user interface feature is not present in the Droid Ultra or the new Moto X.

Motorola fans have been long waiting for such a discrete, touch-anywhere feature for capturing photos on the go and the newly-leaked photos depicting the purported Droid 5 suggest the company may have finally taken that into account. It's a bit odd, however, that Motorola chose to include this functionality with the Droid 5 and not the much-hyped Moto X or the Droid Ultra.

No other details regarding the purported Motorola Droid 5 are available at this point. If these leaked images are the real deal, however, the smartphone seems final so Motorola could make an official unveiling soon enough. As usual with leaks, rumors and speculations, it is advisable to take things with a grain of salt until the news are confirmed.

Motorola has yet to announce a new QWERTY-packing Droid for Verizon, but we'll make sure to let you know as soon as we find out more.
