Samsung, with the launch of its Chromebook, gave the users a new option of OS to explore. And, as the company is expected to launch the second generation Chromebook, it seems that a revolutionary move is going to be taken regarding the SoC of the device.

According to new rumors, the next generation of Chromebooks are going to be powered by a processor, which is both powerful and energy efficient. The company is rumored to be bringing ARM's big.LITTLE architecture that is found in Samsung Galaxy S4 to the next version of Chromebook.

Samsung has used the big.LITTLE technology in its Exynos 5 Octa processor where it used a quad-core A7 processor combined with a quad-core A15 processor. The A7 processor stays in use during 'little' tasks such as playing music and replying to messages. The use of A7 is targeted to achieve energy efficiency of the device. However, when it comes to 'big' tasks like playing games or using GPRS, the A15 processor swings into action and delivers more speed and supports heavy graphics.

If Samsung really brings this processing to Chromebook, it will deliver so much relief to the users, especially to those who use their Chromebooks while traveling.

A German technology website, Mobile Geeks, claims to have received the information from a Google employee who is associated with the development of the Chrome OS. However, the website doesn't know anything as to which processors are going to be used for the right combination and what speed they will be clocked at.

Samsung is holding an event in London on June 20 and the company is expected to make some Chromebook related announcement during the event. However, it is still not clear that when will the next generation Chromebook will be launched.

Samsung's present Chromebook is powered by Samsung's own dual-core Exynos 5 Dual processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. The 11.6 inch Chromebook has 16 GB storage and a 2 GB of RAM.
