Samsung Galaxy devices are getting software updates almost every day, but the updates are reaching the smartphones and tablets only. However, the Samsung Galaxy Camera on the Verizon network has also got a software update but it is not an Android update.
The update is a heavy update weighing 180 MB and is reportedly bringing some new and advanced features to the camera.
The update was pushed to the devices last weekend but there was nothing known about what changes the update was going to make in the camera, as it didn't come with a changelog. The changelog for the build VRAMC4 is now available with the details of changes the update is going to make.
"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update, SW Version JZO54K.GC120VRAMC4, for your Samsung Galaxy Camera," Verizon stated in its support forum.
The new update includes a Help App that comes with a guidebook for the Galaxy Camera, explaining almost everything about the device. It also brings the Galaxy S3-like application, S Memo, that will allow the users of Galaxy Camera to create records using the already taken pictures.
On top of that, there are four new modes included in the camera: Dawn, Party Indoor, Snow and Food.
Another thing which is added is the Remote Viewfinder. "Remote Viewfinder app allows compatible smartphones - including GALAXY S series, Tab series or iPhone - to control your Galaxy Camera using a Wi-Fi Connection," Verizon says.
Remote Viewfinder is able to:
* Capture still images
* Control Zoom
* Control Flash
* Set Timer
* Set Resolution
* Save results images on Galaxy Camera and Smart Phone (resize image on Smart Phone)
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Camera, along with Galaxy Note 2, at the IFA event in August 2012. The Galaxy Camera boasts cutting-edge hardware and software, outgunning many high-end Android products.
Featuring a 16-megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor and a 21x optical zoom lens, the Galaxy Camera looks like an ordinary camera at the front. However, when flipped back, it reflects the beauty of a high-end device with its 4.8-inch 1280 X 720 pixels resolution display. The rear side has rounded edges and there are three capacitive buttons below the display.
The Galaxy Camera runs on a quad-core Exynos 4412 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage and it supports expandable memory (of up to 32GB), courtesy of the microSD card.
