With the Samsung Galaxy S4 just around the corner, Galaxy S3 offers are increasingly tempting: Verizon, for instance, is now offering the handset for $99.99.
In anticipation of the latest Samsung Galaxy flagship, the Big Red decided to drop the price of the popular Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone. Although the Galaxy S3 is still a powerful smartphone with many fans, it's common for carriers and retailers to lower the price of the "old" generation and make room for the shiny new toy.
The 16GB version of the Verizon Galaxy S3 is now available for $99.99 after agreeing to sign a two-year contract with the carrier. While Verizon has yet to announce the availability of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 on its network, this price drop for the previous-generation Galaxy flagship suggests the new powerhouse will hit store shelves soon.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 306 pixels per inch (ppi). It packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and 2GB of RAM under the hood, sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 1.9-megapixel front shooter, and has a 2,100mAh removable battery juicing things up.
The new Verizon offer is for the 16GB version of the device, but the Samsung Galaxy S3 supports additional memory of up to 64GB via an SD card. The Samsung Galaxy S4 obviously comes with some notable improvements over its predecessor, but the Galaxy S3 is still a hot and powerful Android device able to easily handle virtually any task.
While many have their eyes set on the new Galaxy flagship, for plenty of other consumers, being able to get a high-end smartphone with top-notch specs for just $99.99 sounds like a sweet deal. High-end devices were hardly designed for those on a budget, but deals such as this one make them more affordable. As the Galaxy S4 makes its way to more carriers and retailers, the previous-generation Galaxy S3 smartphone will likely see more price cuts and tempting offers.
