The Microsoft Surface RT is expanding its presence in Chinaby and the device will be available in Microsoft's new flagship Chinese retail store on Tmall, along with 4 other partner stores, which includes 360Buy,PC Mall, OneZero, and Sundan.
"We are excited to partner with more leading retailers, to expand Surface RT sales distribution in China, and allow more Chinese customers experience and buy the innovative product easily. With the Surface being the most popular line of Windows 8-based devices, it's a good move by Microsoft as expansion into other territories kindles hopes of maximizing the reach of its hardware products and most importantly, Windows 8.
The Windows 8 platform hasn't been gaining much love or momentum since the operating system hit store shelves back in Q4 2012. This is causing partners to lash out at Windows 8 for being too slow to garner any meaningful adoption. One such OEM, Samsung, believes Microsoft needs to do more to grow educate consumers about Windows 8, and about the confusion that is Windows RT.
Samsung went on to state, how much Windows 8 isn't better than Vista, which is probably the lowest blow ever given to Windows 8 at this point.
With the new Windows Blue update in the pipleline, Microsoft is hoping it can capture the hearts and minds of consumers who are knee deep in the Android and iOS ecosystem. These people are putting Microsoft in a very difficult position in trying to make Windows 8 a household name when it comes down to tablet devices.
Microsoft could really use Nokia on this one as the Finnish giant should have some neat tricks up its sleeve.
