Bejeweled Live, an adaptation of Bejeweled, which is also a game that has been modeled after Bejeweled 3, has finally launched for Windows 8, and is available in the Windows 8 Store for the cool price of $4.99.
Bejeweled Live is a game with three game modes, Classic, Diamond Mine, and Butterflies. Classic mode is the version of the game players from around the world have come to love; Diamond is a mode where the player is thrown in mine where he/she has to find a way to dig themselves out. Butterfly on the other hand, is a different take on the traditional model where some gems take the form of butterflies, and are able to take flight on the board while the player is playing.
Leaderboards and stats are available for those who are very competitive. Players will have the option to keep up with their own scores, the scores of friends, or some random stranger somewhere.
"Bejeweled began life on Windows 98 way back in 2001 and has enjoyed tremendous global success on more than 20 different platforms since then," Heather Hazen, executive producer for the Bejeweled franchise, said in a statement.
"We're confident that the beautiful new design and solid foundation of Windows 8 will provide a fantastic experience with Bejeweled Live," Hazen added.
Currently, there are several versions of Bejeweled available on Xbox Live, while there's only one version on Windows Phone. It is not certain if the Windows 8 version of the game will have support for Achievements, but since the other versions do, it is highly likely Bejeweled Live will follow suit.
Other games coming to Windows 8 include Samurai vs. Zombies (FREE), Emily's True Love (FREE) and Shuffle Party (FREE, Xbox LIVE).
