Apple has been quietly working on its iOS Maps app for awhile now and the app is now updated with Flyover support or expanded Flyover coverage, 3D building images and turn-by-turn navigation for several cities.

Apple has brought Flyover support to an additional 16 cities in the past few months and extended its coverage in 14 of the cities already supported. The Loop's Jim Dalrymple has been keeping a track of the Apple updates and according to him, the new cities to offer Flyover support are:

- Providence, RH

- Portland, ME

- Cleveland, OH

- Green Bay, WI

- Minneapolis, MN

- Albany, NY

- Indianapolis, Indiana

- Cologne, Germany

- Glasgow, Scotland

Apple has extended the 3D building renderings for regions that have not been given the access. The newly updated cities to receive updated 3D buildings for standard view and turn-by-turn navigation are:

In its relentless efforts to improve its Map apps, Apple has incorporated a number of improvements to the application in the past few months, including the Maps update in Japan, where it introduced toll road notifications, updated icons and labels for junctions, interchanges, on-ramps, off-ramps and intersections, as well as improved pronunciation of roads during turn-by-turn navigation and more.

A number of updates have also been made to its Chinese Maps apps, in which it has introduced a new coloring scheme that matches the vector-based Maps, added a new Chinese character font for better readability, updated road network and rearranged locations in a way that relevant locations appear first. Globally, Apple has improved satellite imagery in a number of countries.
