AT&T exclusive Nokia Lumia 920 may soon make its way to rival Verizon network, if reporters are to be believed.
Currently, Nokia Lumia 920 is exclusive to AT&T in the U.S. and HTC Windows Phone 8X is the only WP8-powered high-end model available on Verizon. The only option for customers looking for a Lumia handset on the carrier is the mid-range Nokia Lumia 822, which is Verizon's exclusive variant of the Nokia Lumia 820.
"If you're on Verizon and you want a high-end Nokia Lumia. You're gonna be happy soon," noted a tweet from Tom Warren, a correspondent with The Verge.
The tweet does not specifically point at the Lumia 920 but a "high-end Nokia Lumia" device. The Lumia 920 is the only top-end handset in the Nokia Lumia handset line up. There are also rumors surfacing in the market about a Lumia 920 with aluminum chassis. So it may be that the aluminum version of the Lumia 920 is heading for Verizon.
Alternatively, the Verizon version of the Lumia 920 may just get some minor tweaks and arrive at the carrier with a different name.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is gaining popularity in the smartphone space slowly but steadily. Long queues of potential customers have greeted the Nokia Lumia 920 twice in China. UK retailer Clove sold out the Lumia 920 thrice even before stocks arrived.
Nokia has also been very aggressive with the marketing and promotion of the handset. The company even released a few TV adverts showing off the features of the Lumia 920 in an attempt to attract more customers to the handset.
The increasing popularity of the handset in the U.S. will mean that the Lumia 920 will no more be exclusive to only one carrier. We will have to wait and see what plans Nokia and Verizon have up their sleeve.
