Apple has shown its newest iPhones at the big Glowtime event. The company revealed the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Although they seem close to the iPhone 15, these new devices bring strong changes that really make them different. Improved camera options and smarter AI technology are key things to know.
As noted in Apple's news release, the iPhone 16 now has a special button that controls the camera. This is a first for regular iPhones. You also get the Action button, which only the Pro models had before.
Together, these two give better control over pictures and shortcuts. The camera button helps users take fast photos and zoom without losing time in menus.
Clicking it snaps a picture. Sliding it changes zoom levels. Everything stays easy while users take shots without blocking the screen.
The Action button can be set up to do different things. Want to open your favorite app, turn off notifications, or use the flashlight? That button can do it. This adds to the way people use their phones and makes things faster and more personal.

A big change in the iPhone 16 lies in its camera upgrades. The back camera now aligns vertically, like older iPhone models such as the iPhone X and iPhone 11. This new alignment helps the iPhone 16 take spatial pictures and videos. These are there for use with Apple's Vision Pro headset.
The Cupertino giant gave the zoom camera better quality using the new A18 chip. This chip powers Apple Intelligence, a new AI system from the company. It helps the iPhone 16 use advanced AI for a smarter camera.
Want to know more about something you see with the camera? Point the phone at it. The "visual intelligence" tool helps you learn about objects or places. It's like Google Lens but won't be ready right when the phone comes out. It should arrive later this year.
The iPhone 16 still has a 48-megapixel main camera, which can zoom 2x. The ultrawide sensor now pulls in more light, making night photos better.
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have the same screen sizes as last year - 6.1 inches for the iPhone 16 and 6.7 inches for the Plus. Want a bigger screen? You can choose either of the two: 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays.
The A18 chip powers the iPhone 16 series, giving faster speeds and longer battery life. Apple says the iPhone 16 offers two more hours of video watching compared to the iPhone 15.
The iPhone 16 Plus can play one more hour of local video and four extra hours for streaming. All these boosts, plus Apple Intelligence, mean the iPhone 16 works quicker and lasts longer.
The iPhone 16 uses both USB-C and wireless charging through MagSafe or Qi2. MagSafe now charges at 25 watts instead of 15 watts, giving faster and smarter wireless charging. Qi2 wireless charging still charges at 15 watts, while older Qi chargers remain at 7.5 watts.
CNET reports that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are available in bright colors including pink, black, white, teal green, and deep blue.
Features like the Camera Control button, Action button, and stronger AI with Apple Intelligence show clear improvements from earlier models. Prices start at $799 for the iPhone 16 and $899 for the 16 Plus, the same as the iPhone 15.
If you have an iPhone 15, you may want to keep it for now, Fox7 advises. Otherwise, you can upgrade if you think it does not meet your needs anymore.
