Samsung continues its commitment to the Olympic movement by partnering with the Paris 2024 Olympic Committee.
As a leading technology company, the South Korean tech titan is providing 5,000 Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition devices to para-athletes participating in the Paralympic Games, which begin on Aug. 28.
However, while Samsung's sponsorship of the paralympians is commendable, some units are spotted on sale on eBay. How did this happen?
As Samsung wrote on its newsroom site, the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition offers a range of features designed to enhance the experience of para athletes. With its innovative design and powerful capabilities, this device provides a valuable tool for communication, entertainment, and productivity.

Samsung's Galaxy smartphones, including the Z Flip6, feature a variety of accessibility features that cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
One notable feature is Relumino outline, which improves screen contrast, brightness, and image sharpness, making it easier for visually impaired users to navigate and interact with their devices.
Samsung has been actively supporting a diverse group of athletes from around the world, known as Team Galaxy. These athletes include French blind footballer and torchbearer Yvan Wouandji, para athletes Johannes Floors from Germany and Madison de Rozario from Australia, para swimmer Ugo Didier from France, and Hee-jin Kim from Korea, according to GSM Arena.
In addition to supporting athletes, Samsung is organizing pop-up experiences at Olympic venues in Paris. These events allow fans to learn more about Paralympic sports, including blind football, para athletics, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair tennis. By participating in these experiences, fans can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs faced by para athletes.
As part of the pop-up experiences, fans will have the chance to win a Galaxy Z Flip6 or a round-trip package for two to attend the next Olympic Games, Milano Cortina 2026. These prizes offer a unique opportunity for fans to experience the excitement of the Olympic movement firsthand.
Sam Mobile reports that some limited-edition Flip 6 Olympic Edition handsets are currently posted on eBay listings. It appears that some Olympians are "ungrateful" about the sponsorship.
From the looks of it, this is rare since Samsung is not selling the units and this means that only athletes are the only ones who can sell them.
Although this is not prohibited, it only goes to show that these athletes do not treasure what Samsung gave to them. What's worse, the Paris Paralympics are still ongoing at the moment when this took place.
