Pokelabo has a surprising revelation for mobile role-playing game fans especially those who grew up watching the 2011 anime TV series Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
The free-to-play game will chase the original title of the anime. According to the SINoAlice developer, it will be called Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra.
Announced on June 17, the game has stirred excitement among fans of the Madoka Magica franchise with a series of character trailers, though much about the gameplay and systems remains shrouded in mystery.
Below, we dive into everything we know about this upcoming release, including its scheduled launch and the availability of a Steam version.
At this point, there's no official and final release date for the Magia Exedra game. However, the developer made it clear that it will come later this year. It will officially become available on mobile devices and PC, particularly on Steam.
Unlike many anime-based games that simply retell the original story, Magia Exedra will introduce an entirely new narrative, according to Lords of Gaming. While beloved characters like Madoka, Kyoko, Mami, Sayaka, and Homura will feature prominently, the story will revolve around a new character, tentatively referred to as "Name."

The game is not just a simple retelling of the anime or the storyline from Magia Record; instead, it brings a fresh story that adds depth to the existing Madoka Magica universe. Players will primarily control the new protagonist, exploring through quests and story beats that promise to deliver a rich, immersive experience.
Magia Exedra will follow the gacha game model, a popular format for anime-themed mobile games. Although details on the gameplay mechanics are still scarce, it is expected that the game will offer a full-fledged story, akin to titles like Zenless Zone Zero.
Players concerned about the potential pay-to-progress mechanics can find solace in the fact that similar games in the genre have successfully balanced free-to-play accessibility with a satisfying narrative experience.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra will feature a turn-based RPG combat system, reminiscent of games like Honkai Star Rail. If you love strategy games, then this might be the one for you.
Players can expect to explore fully realized 3D environments, transitioning into traditional turn-based battles when encountering enemies. The game will allow up to five characters in the party, each utilizing elemental attacks and special abilities, though the extent of customization options remains to be revealed.
In keeping with recent trends in mobile gaming, which increasingly mirror the fidelity and complexity of triple-A titles, Magia Exedra seems poised to offer a visually stunning experience. The game's ultimate attacks are reportedly accompanied by flashy, high-quality animations, promising an engaging and visually captivating combat experience.
For those eager to get their hands on Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra, pre-registration is now open. Mobile users can pre-register through the Google Play Store, while PC gamers can wishlist the game on Steam. Additionally, following the game's official X (formerly Twitter) page provides access to exclusive artwork and insights, likely showcasing cutscenes and other in-game content.
For Homura Akemi fans, here's a sneak peek of her trailer.
