The gaming industry is set to witness a fresh wave of innovation as former NFL player Morgan Kane unveils his new mobile game studio, Marauder Tech. The studio, which boasts a team of seasoned industry veterans, is gearing up to launch its debut title, a turn-based strategy game titled Price of Glory.
Kane, a seasoned NFL veteran with a passion for gaming, brings a unique perspective to the gaming industry. His experience as a high-performance athlete aligns with the competitive spirit of game development, fostering a drive for excellence within the studio.
Turn-based strategy Games Will Be Marauder Tech's Lifeline
Marauder Tech's initial focus lies in creating a compelling and accessible turn-based strategy game that caters to both casual and hardcore gamers. By emphasizing player choice and tactical depth, "Price of Glory" aims to stand out in a crowded market. The game's emphasis on flexibility and adaptable gameplay mechanics sets it apart from traditional turn-based titles.
In a report by PocketGamer, Kane said that Marauder Tech began a long time ago-for more than 10 years. The co-founder added that he loved playing strategy games. However, creating one is difficult since they did not have enough resources to start a game studio.
Kane continued that in April 2023, he kept in touch with a developer and decided to hire him. In the succeeding months, he saw some progress for the work that they just visualized previously.
Embracing Diverse Gaming Development Studio
The studio's commitment to a remote-first work culture is a testament to its forward-thinking approach. By eliminating geographical constraints, Marauder Tech can tap into a global pool of talent, fostering a diverse and innovative team.
With a seasoned team at the helm and a promising debut title in development, Marauder Tech is poised to make a significant impact on the mobile gaming landscape. As the company continues to grow and expand its portfolio, the gaming industry eagerly awaits the fruits of their labor.
Marauder Tech wouldn't also be possible without Joel Balyeat, the chief product officer who previously worked for Activision.
According to Balyeat, the goal of the 22-person studio is to give gamers a "unique" taste of the turn-based genre. He said that Price of Glory will allow them to play whenever and wherever they want "without feeling extreme time constraints."
The upcoming mobile strategy game will be released in late 2024 on Android and iOS.
Meanwhile, Game Developer reported that Go City developer Shipyard Games will be shut down after seven years in the field of mobile game development. CEO Andreas Wedenberg said that the company is in a "critical" situation, citing a lack of investor support and financial capability.
