Qualcomm has formally disclosed the newest mid-range application processor, 6s Gen 3 belonging to Snapdragon series. Intended to bring performance and efficiency improvements to mid-tier mobile devices, this new processor is expected to quickly change the real capabilities of the devices that fall to this segment.
Enhanced CPU and GPU Capabilities
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 comes in two variants: One of the devices, SK Telecom's solar-powered outdoor unit (model SM-6370), supported 4G, while the second, SK Telecom's solar/battery hybrid outdoor unit (model SM6375-AC) supported 5G.
Both variants are designed based on TSMC's 6nm process technology although both devices have their differences. The SM6375 model was first released as the Snapdragon 695 in 2021 and is now rebranded as the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 while reworking has been done to make it more powerful.
CPU and GPU Specifications:
High-Performance Cluster: Two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz.
Efficiency Cluster: Six Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.8 GHz.
GPU: Adreno 619, supporting FHD+ displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
CPU clusters of the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 are overclocked in comparison to previous versions, which makes the processes faster and allows it to function with multiple applications at the same time with no freezing. The Adreno 619 GPU also improves the gaming experience to deliver more frames per second and with rich graphics which will suit mobile gamers and those who love multimedia.
Advanced Connectivity and AI Features
Besides, Qualcomm's own Snapdragon X51 5G modem is installed in the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 for better support of 5G internet connection for improved data accessibility and speed. Bluetooth is also available in the chipset and it has support for Bluetooth 5. 2 and WiFi 4/5, and this makes this modem compatible with almost all the wireless devices and networks.
Connectivity and AI Features:
5G Modem: Snapdragon X51 for enhanced 5G connectivity.
Bluetooth: Version 5.2.
WiFi: Compatible with WiFi 4 and 5.
AI Engine: Improved AI-based low-light photography and support for multiple AI voice assistants.
Qualcomm's AI engine in Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 brings much better AI-based low-light photography to make it obvious that photo quality is better in the dark. It also comes with multiple AI-supported voice assistants so that the users have access to as many options as possible with regards to the voice commands that they are able to give the device.
Versatile Multimedia and Efficient Power Management
The Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 is designed so that users could use it for all sorts of multimedia, ranging from photo to video. The chipset also allows for a 108 MP rear camera in addition to the capacity to record up to 1080p videos at 60 fps. Moreover, with Qualcomm's Spectra ISP, it's possible to have triple-concurrent 13 MP photo and 720p30 video processing, thus providing users with a fine shot-to-shot image and video quality.
Multimedia and Power Management:
Camera Support: Up to 108 MP rear camera and 1080p video recording at 60 fps.
Image Signal Processor (ISP): Qualcomm Spectra ISP for triple-concurrent 13 MP photo and 720p30 video capture.
Charging: Quick Charge 4+ technology, achieving 50% battery charge in just 15 minutes.
RAM and Storage: Supports LPDDR 4X RAM at 2133 MHz and UFS 2.2 storage.
Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ is also integrated into the chipset elevating the charging capabilities to a new level; devices are ready to use in half the time or 15 minutes to 50% charge. This makes the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, an ideal SoC for busy users, and one that offers great efficiency in medium to high-definitions games.
Anticipated Devices and Market Impact
It would also express the hope that the Moto G85 will be one of the first smartphones predicated on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. Based on rumors for Moto G85, the following features have been considered; the Standard model will pack a 7-inch p-OLED display and a 50 MP primary camera and will highlight the performance of Qualcomm's latest chip.
With the incorporation of powerful processor, high and interconnected communication, multimedia features and better battery control the snapdragon 6s Gen 3 is poised to take mid-range smartphones to a new level. Thus, Qualcomm focuses on the constant improvement of services, making the advanced possibilities provided to users comparable to the premium segment in terms of quality but at a lower cost, which increases the accessibility of innovations.
As the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 starts to ship in future devices, the 6s Gen 3 will position itself as a powerful mid-range that gives users the best of both worlds: value-added performance efficiency at an affordable price point.
