Nowadays a phone is more than 'just' a phone. You use it for everything, especially when you're in business. From making calls to adding calendar appointments, slacking colleagues or putting a task on your to do-list, who could live without their phone? If you do a lot of business with countries abroad, it might be a good idea to get a number with an area code of the country you want to do business with and link it to your phone. Let us explain why.

Invest in a telephone number with a local area code

If you do business, with for example the Netherlands, it might be really handy to get a Dutch phone number. Especially if you want to attract new clients, this makes you seem local and thus more reliable than some far-away company. Dutch people probably don't want to call an American number, but will have no issues with a Dutch number. Through VoIP calling (Dutch translation: VoIP bellen), they'll reach you when calling the Dutch number.

How to get an international number

If you want to get an international number, you need to talk to your provider. For this, you need to provide the paperwork that shows you're registered at the trade register. Once that's done, you can even choose a specific area code. If we continue with the example of the Netherlands, you can for instance choose a "030 netnummer", a "036 netnummer" or a "040 netnummer". This will make it seem like you're calling from Utrecht, Almere or Eindhoven. Of course you can also opt for a phone number for the entirety of the Netherlands.

Link your mobile to your landline number

Now you're talking to your provider, ask if they can integrate your landline into your mobile phone. That way, you can call whenever and wherever with your mobile phone, but customers or business partners don't get to see your personal number, but the number of your landline.
