Alleged Honor 9 render has shown up the web, revealing its design and specs. The sub-brand of Huawei seems to be in preparation to release the Honor 8's successor.

Through Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, Honor is reportedly making a noise on the internet regarding its upcoming flagship smartphone, which will be called as Honor 9. If this render will turn out to be reliable, then Honor is up on making a major change in the design aspect, specifically the location of the fingerprint scanner, says Gizbot. Previously, the company embedded the fingerprint sensor at the back of Honor 8 and the home button functioned also as a smart key for launching apps like camera, they called this as a Smart Key feature.

Probably, they decided to let go of this feature even though it is considered as Honor 8's plus point for higher sales. The Honor 9's fingerprint sensor is embedded on the physical button at the front, just right under the display and it has the same shape of what Huawei P10 has. The latest Honor flagship might also have a dual camera set up coupled with a dual LED flash that comes also with laser autofocus, according to GSM Arena.

The front camera will have the same feature as what Honor 8 had. The glass on its back might be tapered at the edges by seeing how the light reflects on it. This would mean that the device has an improved ergonomics. Though this can also be seen on the front, however, the curves are subtler.

Tech reviews are skeptical if this render is really true because of the placement of sensors. Its dual camera set up at the back and the front camera identically located in the same place as Honor 8, as well as the earpiece and proximity sensor. According to BGR, even the appearances of the sensors are just the same. What is more questionable is that the volume and power keys appears similar and at the same position.

Looking at these similarities, it can be concluded that this render might be just a hoax or it not supposed to be the Honor 9. It might be an upgrade or another variant of Honor 8 instead.
