Huawei is breaking all the barriers once again in the market of smartphones with just a newly surfaced patent, which hinted towards an entirely new foldable phone design.

In its very unique protective cover, it is coming forth with this one, that will be soon ready with this one. This detail was released in a paper put forward by China's National Intellectual Property Administration to show the idea of its three-fold foldable smartphone, not only for having high-end functionalities but to be on top when considering durability.

Huawei Foldable Patent

Interestingly, a new Huawei patent revealed a rotating mechanism for a foldable phone design. From the looks of it, it's getting a protective case. Huawei

According to 91Mobiles, this patent design seems to represent a foldable device, and apparently, it is some kind of smartphone or tablet that the case is a part of the structure.

Two parts of the components are attached through a hinge for an absolutely smooth folding and unfolding action. Probably, the intention of the design is to join these two panels for a more expansive area to be shown on the screen.

One of the most striking aspects of this Huawei patent is the cover attached to wrap around the flexible section of the device when closed. It guarantees a slim profile such that the overall footprint of the handset is not greatly minimized and remains very lightweight and portable.

Innovative Design for Extra Protection

The design provided by Huawei makes a conscious effort not just in aesthetics but also in functional usefulness. The protection cover engineered by this group is meant to shield the display of a device along the bending areas. During the shut configuration of this device, its shape looks like an S shape according to the patent description—it is compact as well as stylish.

The cover also has a glass window through which the contents of the device can be viewed even when it is closed. This is very helpful for alerts or checking messages without completely opening the device.

Sleek Magnetic Components

According to Gadgets 360, an interesting feature of the Huawei patent is that it uses magnetic parts in the gadget. These magnets enable the attachment of the foldable phone's bending parts to the metal parts that are kept inside. Although the patent does not clearly indicate how these parts work, it focuses on their functionality in protecting the display.

This flexibility along with security will show that Huawei intends to innovate more user experience so that it stands through daily wear and tear with innovative features.

It may be noted that patents registered on the CNIPA website are confirmed. However, patents usually are ideas but not a complete product.

Most inventions submitted in the patent document are just notions and do not indicate that a product based on such a description will ever actually be available to the general public.

The company could even further develop the technology before it includes it in the final product. In addition, the design may even change while the device is under development.

The patent could be a continuation of Huawei in the field of foldable handsets. The recently launched Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is the world's first tri-fold phone, commercially available, and, therefore, this new design will be a step toward marking a further lead position by the brand in advanced mobile technology.

If Huawei continues its exploration of foldable devices, consumers could turn to the brand and it might be a trend-setter later for other smartphone manufacturers. The mobile design in the patent is just the beginning.
