Last year, Huawei Terminal brand Honor launched its Honor 8 in the United States, and now it is all set to take the wraps off the successor dubbed, the Honor 8 Pro in Europe. The upgraded iteration of the Honor 8 is actually the revamped version of the Honor V9, which was launched in China a couple of months ago.

Honor 8 Pro Price In The UK & Europe

The device is slated to hit the stores in Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and the UK. It is already up for pre-orders and those looking to get their hands on the Honor 8 Pro will have to shell out GBP 480 (about $598) in the UK and EUR 549 (about $586) in mainland Europe. Shipping kicks off April 20.

Honor 8 Pro Availability, Specs & Features

Both design and specs of the Honor 8 Pro are virtually identical to the Honor V9; however, the device will be up for grabs in different color options including Midnight Black, Platinum Gold, and Navy Blue. The selling point of the Huawei Honor 8 Pro is its dual camera setup at the back, which comprise a couple of 12MP sensors equipped with f/2.2 aperture, 4K video recording, LED flash, and laser autofocus, Gadgets 360 reported.

Other specs include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM support, a microSD slot, NFC, and USB-C charging. TheVerge's Tom Warren deemed the Honor 8 Pro as marginally better than the Huawei P10 as far as specifications are concerned. Despite the larger display, the 8 Pro feels more comfortable to hold than the Honor 8. Besides, it comes bearing a much lower price tag.

Honor opted for rounded corners with a matte aluminum finish for the 8 Pro rather than going for a glass back and as a result, the smartphone seems to bear a striking resemblance to the iPhone 7 Plus smartphone. Aside from the cosmetic appearance, even the footprint of the device is identical if compared side-by-side.

The Honor 8 Pro will be running the latest version of Huawei's EMUI (5.1) atop of the Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system, according to Engadget. AI algorithms will observe what apps a user opens regularly in order to optimize memory aptly. While it remains to be seen whether or not they actually work on a regular basis, Honor claims it has 29 patent applications associated with the aforesaid technology.

Honor 8 Pro Unique Packaging & Beta Program

Hoping to give all Pro owners a brief glimpse of VR basics, Honor has designed a packaging box for the 8 Pro that can be reused as a Google Cardboard viewer for VR. This is quite an efficient way to reuse something a user usually either stores away or throws in the trash.

Following in the footsteps of leading handset makers such as Samsung, Microsoft, and OnePlus, Honor launched a beta program on April 5 in the bid to garner feedback on its software. The beta kicked off April 5 in the US, and those looking to participate can head to Honor's Facebook group to apply.
