It now just a few more days until the eighth season of the hit adult animated spy sitcom, "Archer," hits the airwaves. In preparation for the new season, titled "Dreamland," the show's producers have now released a brand new mobile game for Android and iOS that should increase the hype for the new episodes.
The tie-in augmented reality video game, called "Archer, P.I," lets users interact directly with the animated television show as they strive to get their name on the door of Archer's detective agency. The game will work with a number of scenes during the new episodes, which will help users solve different puzzles.
According to Android Police, in its core, "Archer, P.I" is a puzzle solving game that uses the latest augmented reality technology to bring to life different targets embedded into different scenes within the new episodes. FX also teased that several "clues" can also be found in the "real world," which includes different TV commercials, billboards, the show's official Facebook page, and FX's official website. Different clues will lead to further discovery of information that will help users to crack the cases they have been assigned to them within the game.
"Archer, P.I" is actually downloadable now, but there isn't much in the way of content as of yet as most of the investigations will begin once the show arrives on April 5. Those who will choose to download the game early will be met with a short introduction to the game as they become the fill-in replacement on Archer's new private investigation team. Aside from that, there isn't really much to the game just yet.
As reported by Engadget, some of the game's puzzles can only be solved by actually printing and assembling different objects. The use of printers does a tie-in with the show's film noir-inspired new season. The game will apparently also tell a hidden story within "Archer" season 8.
