Xiaomi's Mi 6 has not been spared from rumors and leaks. Details about the upcoming flagship smartphone's launch and specifications recently surfaced on Weibo. Let's take a gander at what the leaks suggest.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will pack Snapdragon 821 processor at first. The handset was originally rumored to come with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, but a report from TheIndianExpress suggests it will be equipped with the slightly older Snapdragon 821 instead.

Xiaomi will debut a higher-end variant of the Mi 6 that may feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, but that's unlikely to come to fruition anytime soon, according to a recently surfaced Weibo leak (via GizmoChina). Interestingly, this shred of information comes amidst reports of Samsung stockpiling Snapdragon 835 processor for its long-rumored Galaxy S8 smartphone, which launched Wednesday, March 29.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date

Xiaomi Mi 6 was scheduled to hit the store shelves early next month, but its launch has been pushed back to May citing the shortage of the Snapdragon 835 processor, which, AndroidPure claim will be up for grabs only after April. If this report is anything to go by, it also explains why several other handset makers are resorting to Snapdragon 821 rather than choosing to use the newfangled Snapdragon 835.

As a result, LG will be sticking to the older Snapdragon chipset for its G6 smartphone, while Sony Xperia XZ Premium's launch has been pushed back. Other reports claim the Mi 6 will be available in two variants, both of which will have Snapdragon 835 processor. No doubt, that would be ideal; however, this does not coincide with previously previous rumors that indicated the device will come in three variants on April 11.
