Rumor reports and leaks regarding Xiaomi's upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 6, has been constantly popping up in recent weeks, which seemingly points to it likely coming out very soon. Now, a new leak that fully lists the Xiaomi Mi 6's specs have emerged, but this time it includes the alleged specs for the phone's larger-screened variant, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus.
It seems like Xiaomi may be trying to emulate a certain Cupertino-based company's method in releasing its models with the addition of a larger-screened variant. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus will basically be the same as its standard-sized sibling, but with the exception of some interesting changes.
According to the leaked spec sheet, via GSM Arena, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus will apparently have a dual-camera setup. This move is, of course, similar to how Apple had incorporated a dual-camera setup on its large Apple iPhone 7 Plus while having a single-camera system on the standard iPhone 7.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus' camera setup will be comprised of two 12 megapixel Sony IMX 362 units. This is a big improvement over the already sufficient Sony IMX 258 sensors on the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus. The other obvious difference will, of course, be the larger phone's 5.7-inch display. However, instead of featuring a 4K display, Xiaomi has opted to retain a 1080p full HD resolution despite the larger screen.
Having a 4K resolution display would, of course, consume more battery, and the move to a standard full HD display would only serve to improve the Mi 6 Plus' endurance. Speaking of endurance, the Mi 6 Plus will have a significantly larger battery than the standard Mi 6. The larger flagship will have a larger 4,500 mAh battery compared to the 3,200 mAh on the standard Mi 6.
Both the Mi 6 and the Mi 6 Plus will apparently be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM. However, there will be a cheaper 4 GB of RAM variant available for the standard Mi 6. Both phones are expected to be unveiled sometime next month, with most reports predicted the launch date to be somewhere between April 11 and April 16.
