Apple will release the iPhone 8 in September and potential buyers are advised to anticipate smartphone shortages thereafter. This information is the latest claim about Apple's upcoming flagship device.

A recent speculation online is claiming that the upcoming flagship device from Apple will not be called iPhone 8 but rather iPhone Edition. The device is said to be released alongside iPhone 7s and 7s Plus in September. As early as now, analysts are predicting that demands for the highly anticipated smartphone will not be met until the end of 2017.

Analysts Blayne Curtis Blayne Curtis, Christopher Hemmelgarn, Thomas O'Malley, and Jerry Zhang predicted that most of the iPhone Edition stock will not be available until in the fourth quarter. These analyses were founded on the research conducted by Barclays. This is backed by MacRumours, saying that the upcoming device packed with the latest features entails a more complicated production process and complex ASPs.

Aside from shortages of upcoming products, there are speculations claiming that the anticipated iPhone 8 will be released with the name iPhone Edition. Mac Otakara disclosed that the Cupertino-based tech conglomerate is still finalizing their flagship device for 2017. According to the Japanese site, several prototypes are still being tested at present.

There are several models that have no home button, while some have varying chassis designs. In addition, there were prototypes being tested, which have glass, others with ceramic or aluminum body. Reports claim that the company is till validating the tests conducted and will still need ample time to get the necessary materials to finalize the device.

Aside from those, Mac Otakara also predicted that the iPhone Edition would be unveiled along with the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus in September. The site also pointed out that the official release of the flagship device will be much later than other Apple products.
