Google has not ceased rolling out major updates for its Android OS (operating system) since 2012 and if the search giant sticks to its release pattern, Android users will have something to shout about this year in the form of Android 8.0.

If rumors running rampant online are anything to go by, Google's 2017 update could boast an array of jaw-dropping features that would make the lauded operating system even more productive to use. Let's delve into the details!

Google is reportedly hard at works on a feature dubbed as Copy Less. The feature allows OS to automatically copy data to users' clipboard in order to save the time of selecting text and hitting copy, according to YahooTech.

It's worth noting that the aforesaid feature is not exactly new as this can also be done on keyboards where on typing a specific word, Google come up with something the user is looking for. It remains to be seen whether or not Copy Less will be an added feature for Google keyboards or will it be introduced as an entirely new thing.

iOS device users are no stranger to the Intelligent Content feature. Just like copy less, this feature is simply an evolution of existing feature. Nevertheless, it is highly likely to be included in Android O.

With this responsive feature, a user can tap a location in a text message and Google Map will automatically pop up pointing to that location. The Intelligent Content feature has been on iOS for a long time and now, it looks like it's headed to Android. There's no word regarding whether or not the Google Maps links would operate on third-party messaging apps, BGR reported.

Although details about the finger gesture are hard to come by, there's word floating around indicating that it will be identical to LG's Tap to Wake feature.

Nothing is set in stone yet; however, multiple sources claim that Android 8 would be a thoroughly advanced OS version that users would simply love. That being said, tech pundits are also hazarding all sorts of guesses regarding which smartphone will run the upcoming Google operating system for the first time this year.

Google Pixel 2

The Pixel 2 is Google's second generation smartphone and it is ideal to run the purported Android O operating system. It can be recalled that Google's first Pixel phone arrived with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed; however, LG G6 was the first smartphone to boast the firmware version.

Nokia P1

Nokia could be working on the next Nexus device. Recently surfaced leaks about the Nokia 8 suggest it has quite a few things that are similar to a Nexus smartphone. And if rumors come to fruition, Nokia could turn out to be another non-Pixel phone, in addition to LG G6, to run Android 8 out of the box.
