Fans may not see a cross-play feature in "Tekken 7" between different platforms, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game director explained that decision to do so does not lie with the developer.
In a Twitter exchange between Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai Namco's fighting video game fans, he explained there are issues that bind their hands for this to happen. He said that it is the "first party issue and platform security policy issue" that restrict them from doing so. He is referring to Sony for PS4 and Microsoft for Xbox One and PC.
He responds to a fan who tweeted that he hoped the game producer will have a change of heart and create "Tekken 7" cross-platform compatible with PC. To which, Harada replied that it is not his heart and their issue.
According to Segment Next, Harada made it clear that their development team has no issue in making the three platforms to interact with each other. But the developer must follow the rules set by these companies for their particular platforms. However, it did not say what are these rules and "issues" that prevents them from doing so.
According to the report, the discussion went further on the "Street Fighter 5" where it allows a cross-play support, between PS4 and PC. "Killer Instinct" is another one, where there is a cross-play support between Xbox One and PC.
However, "Tekken 7" is a multi-console release and Harada pointed out that their security policy, P2P cannot be used between three platforms. It appears that this statement brings an end to the hopes that the game might allow cross-play between the two consoles and PC.
Players on consoles and PC will finally grab their copies of "Tekken 7" on June 2 and it is recently confirmed that the Brazilian capoeira Eddy Gordo will be making his way to the game. Players who pre-order the digital version will get an exclusive "Tekken 7" theme and along with vampire Eliza as a bonus DLC character.
