Actor Ed O’Neill has been in the industry for a long time. From being the star of “Married With Children,” of “Wayne’s World,” and presently, of “Modern Family,” he is just on a roll.

Recently, “Modern Family” Ed O’Neill has been making the rounds online because of his viral interview with 2 FM reporter, Stephen Byrne, who was covering the run up to this year’s Oscars. In this said interview, O’Neill regaled Byrne with a story of his visit to Kerry.

In the red carpet of Leonardo DiCaprio’s “Global Green” party, Ed fondly recalled the time he spent in the Kingdom, with particular attention to Jackie’s stance on drunk driving. “I went by his town and I saw the photo of him as you drive in. He’s waving, with the combover, you know, and as you’re leaving he’s saying ‘goodbye, comeback’ because he owns the pub and the hotel and so forth,” he said. “And when we were going by he had a thing going where he was trying to get the blood alcohol level raised because he wasn’t selling enough Guinness,” he added.

After recalling that story, he suddenly whipped out an impression: “Then I saw the ad that he made where he said ‘in my area, you hit a cow on the road and that’s about the worst you’re doing.’”

The resemblance of his impersonation was what made it so funny and effective. Fans all over were impressed and were laughing through and through. Ed O’Neill is truly a veteran comic. The success of his previous shows, as well as his present Emmy award winning show, “Modern Family” is a testament to that.

Considering that Ed O’Neill is not one who can do a Kerry accent, a weakness he has long acknowledged, it was surprising that he was able to pull off a Healy-Rae impression effectively.
