It has been almost three months now since "Pokemon Sun and Moon: The Series" first aired in Japan but it appears that Ash's definite Pokemon team has been thin and while he picked up Rowlet earlier in the series, he actually has not met any new Pokemon in the wild. However, it seems that there is no need for him to meet any Pokemon in the wild and he only needed to make friends with a Pokemon that is owned by one of his friends.
This week's "Pokemon Sun and Moon: The Series" episode, Ash has learned that Professor Kukui's Rockruff was missing at nighttime and returns home being injured the next morning. He then followed Rockruff with Kukui where they both learned that Rockruff was in an underground Pokemon fight club fighting and losing as well but instead of having Rockruff disappointed, Ash decided to help him undergo training, where Rockruff learned a new move, the Rock Throw.
Rockruff lost to Magmar previously but following the training, Rockruff has beaten the latter and Kukui has let Rockruff go with Ash to travel on his impending adventures to the Alola region when he saw the two's sudden bond. In "Pokemon Sun and Moon: The Series," it is odd for Ash to bring one of his pal's Pokemon but regional professionals usually offer Pokemon to trainers all the time.
According to Comic Book, Ash still lives with Kukui, which means that they would still see each other all the time despite the fact that Ash has to set off on his journeys with Rockruff. Reports say that next week's "Pokemon Sun and Moon: The Series," episode will introduce stray Litten making a comeback that has also encountered Ash previously, which means that Ash's team will grow bigger again very soon.
It was previously reported that Team Rocket finally beat Team Ash for the first time in 20 years in "Pokemon Sun and Moon: The Series." So, it would be interesting to see his team grow bigger in the near future.
