A hearing on the claim of a publication that Formula One champion Michael Schumacher could walk again was kept secret from the public. The court proceedings were reportedly not opened to the public because it is about the private health condition of Schumacher.

Court hearing

Express reported that German magazine Bunte went into court recently after it indicated in a report that Schumacher could already walk. As editor Tanja May took a seat on the courtroom, the judge hearing the trial did not allow the public to attend the trial.

"The public is excluded from the trial. It is about the health condition of the patient," said Judge Simone Käfer. A spokesperson for the court explained that May was only asked about the compliance of the publication in practicing due diligence when it made the claim about Schumacher.

Reports denied

According to Daily Star, Schumacher family lawyer Felix Damm has denied the report of the magazine noting that it already invaded the private life of the Formula One racer. He added that the racing legend could still not walk without the help of therapists.

The lawyer tagged the reporting as "irresponsible" adding that it gave a lot of people, especially the fans, false hopes for Schumacher. The family has slapped Bunte with an £85,000 invasion of privacy lawsuit. The court is expected to release a verdict this month.

Skiing accident

With the lack of official reports about the real condition of Michael Schumacher, Bunte was brave to release a report indicating that the injured racer was able to walk again after he recovered from a coma caused by serious head injuries. Schumacher was skiing on the French Alps in late 2013 when the accident happened and he hit his head on a rock.

Up until now, there is no clear report about how Schumacher is already doing. The public is still kept in the dark when it comes to the real condition for the F1 champ.
