It looks like fans of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) will once again see another actor portray Batman. According to recent reports floating around the internet, Ben Affleck has allegedly stated that he is quitting the role of the Dark Knight.
According to ComicBook, despite stating that he would be directing "The Batman," an upcoming solo film starring the caped crusader, the actor later said that he would rather focus on acting while another director talks the reigns. However, John Campea has recently claimed that three different sources have revealed that the actor no longer wishes to portray Bruce Wayne/Batman.
In a recent episode of Collider Movie Talk, Campea said, "Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out." Campea added, "He doesn't want to be Batman anymore."
Campea concluded, "I've been told, Ben Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman. And if they do not let him out of being Batman, the standalone Batman film that ultimately happens will be the last time we see Ben Affleck as Batman."
While this piece of information has been neither confirmed nor denied by the actor, DCEU fans will still see Affleck as Batman in the upcoming film "Justice League," which will be screening later in 2017.
Per Nerdist, Matt Reeves will be directing "The Batman" while Affleck is reportedly talking with Warner Bros. "in an attempt to get out of being Batman." If the company does let Affleck exit the DCEU, the solo Batman film will be the last time that fans will get to see the actor portray the Dark Knight.
Several factors could have caused these rumors, and of those could be the fact that "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" did poorly at the box office. While Affleck tried to be more active in the solo Batman flick, he then later backed out as the project's director.
