Freeform's teen family drama "Switched at Birth" doesn't shy away from sensitive topics, and it looks like racism will be featured in the fourth episode of the show's fifth season. The upcoming episode is titled "Relation of Lines and Colors."

According to CarterMatt, "Switched at Birth" is a great show because it's "bold, it has a point of view," and it "it allows its viewers sometimes to see outside of themselves in ways that they don't often do." Some viewers "may not experience many of the situations that these characters do in their real lives, so they do not have that opportunities to see things from a different point of view or vantage point."

In "Switched at Birth" Season 5 episode 4, titled "Relation of Lines and colors," college racism is one of the plot points. While the topic isn't always an easy one to discus, the sad reality is that it occurs in places all around the world. "Switched at Birth" deserves some recognition for "being brave and not trying to hold anything" back in the upcoming episode.

The synopsis for the upcoming episode reads, "Daphne and Sharee are horrified to stumble upon a racist display at the Black Student Union on campus. When the perpetrators are given minimal punishment, Iris starts a hunger strike in protest. Daphne receives an anonymous threat and Sharee grows frustrated with how the school is handling the situation.

Emmett invites Bay to help him with an art project, causing friction with Travis who's already upset that John seems ready to replace him on the baseball team."

Other topics could also be discussed in the episode, and racism on campus might be one of the several things the characters will have to deal with. Meanwhile, "Relation of Line and Colors" follows the third episode of Season 5, which was called, "Surprise."

In "Surprise," Toby and Lily's plans to get married after returning from London are put on hold once a fight "threatens their impending union." On the other hand, Regina is torn over telling her family about her relationship with Luca, and Bay runs into Tank," per Celeb Dirty Laundry.
