With less than a week until Nokia's Sept. 5 event, anticipation is high for the company's new line of Windows Phone 8 smartphones, and expectations are even higher. Major launch events are usually preceded by leaks, rumors, and speculation, and the Nokia event is no exception. New photos leaked on Friday, Aug. 31, offer a sneak peak of what to expect.
The leaked photos come from an upstart leak outlet, a Twitter account called EvLeaks, which has proven reliable in the past. The photos show the rumored Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, the two Windows Phone handsets leaked last week. If the new leaks are correct, Nokia will announce the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphones soon, bringing its popular PureView technology to its line of Windows Phone devices.
According to the photos provided by EvLeaks and uncovered by The Verge, both the Nokia Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 will come in several colors, feature similar designs to earlier Lumia models, and reportedly sport a polycarbonate body.
Nokia Lumia 920
The Lumia 920, codenamed "Phi," will reportedly feature a 4.5-inch or 4.7-inch screen, which would make it Nokia's biggest smartphone to date. This handset will include PureView technology, which means it will be able to deliver high-resolution photos similar to the Nokia 808 PureView. Other rumored specs for the "Phi" include a dual-core Qualcomm chipset, a microSD card slot for expandable memory, and LTE connectivity. The Lumia 920 is expected to be an AT&T exclusive.
Nokia Lumia 820
Meanwhile, the Lumia 820, codenamed "Arrow," is expected to feature a 4 or 4.3-inch display and the same polycarbonate body as the 920 model, in a number of vibrant colors. Unlike its higher-end sibling, however, the Lumia 820 will not boast Nokia's PureView optics. The handset will reportedly be available on AT&T and T-Mobile, with a similar version going to Verizon shortly after launch.
According to The Next Web, the leaked images are close to the final products Nokia will unveil at its upcoming event. The big Windows Phone 8 launch event is scheduled for Sept. 5 in New York City.
