It's February 14, and Bungie's releasing "Destiny" HotFix 2.5.0.2 on the servers today. Instead of a rehash of last year's "Crimson Days" event to celebrate Valentine's, Bungie decided to treat fans with weapon balance changes instead.

Players who tuned in to their Live Fire exercise last February 8, where Bungie hosted a livestream of the patch in action, may already know what to expect. But since the full patch notes are only going out once the patch is actually live, there may be some surprises left.

Destiny HotFix 2.5.0.2: Weapon Balance Changes, Shotguns Nerfed, More

In a previous article, we covered the expected changes HotFix 2.5.0.2 is expected to make in-game. Weapons and abilities are the focus of the latest update, according to Bungie's blog post dated February 9th, with a particular focus on weapon versatility. Despite lack of detailed patch notes, some dedicated Reddit users have tried to puzzle out the changes. Here's what to look out for:

Some changes to ammo for Special Weapons, specifically Snipers, Fusions, and Shotguns. All these will lose ammo during respawns following the initial spawn in to start the game. Ammo crates will also appear every minute, while pick-up radius has shortened from 100m to 75m.

Shotguns, in particular, have received a blanket nerf. According to GameSpot, they've been "dialled back due to their overwhelming strength in Crucible." Magnetism has been decreased, as has in-air accuracy. On the 'abilities' side of the patch, watch out for Gunslinger's throwing knife; it now deals solar damage.

Destiny HotFix 2.5.02: System Requirements

"Destiny" HotFix 2.5.0.2 will be delivered like every other update. Bungie recommends checking that you have the proper amount of console storage available for seamless installation. You can check out the storage requirements for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 here.

They also suggest switching to a wired connection for the download and installation process, if you're dependent on WiFi. Interrupting the update during the download or install process may force some consoles to re-download all previous patch data. According to Bungie's blog post here, this can't be undone.

"Destiny" HotFix 2.5.0.2 goes live on Tuesday, February 14, at 10AM PST. Full patch notes are expected to follow and will be released on Bungie's official blog.
