An overview of the official Sonic SXSW panel was seen with new reveals for both "Project Sonic 2017" and "Sonic Mania," which is set to be announced come March at the SXSW 2017. The event South By Southwest 2017 will be attended by the Japanese multi-national video game developer and publisher Sega.

Sonic SXSW 2017 Panel

The Sonic panel, titled "Gotta Go Fast: The Official Panel Of Sonic The Hedgehog," takes place on March 16, starting at 3 PM PT/ 5 PM CT/ 6 PM ET/ 11 PM UK. The listing didn't say if the panel would be streamed live, but updates will be posted as they are announced. SXSW 2017 runs from March 10 to 19 in Austin, Texas.

Featuring Social Media Manager Aaron Webber, there will be exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the world of "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Sonic Mania" and the upcoming "Sonic 2017." Presenters from SEGA and Sonic Team, Sonic voice actor Roger Craig Smith and Dr. Robotnik voice actor Mike Pollock will join the panel as well, writes Gematsu. This panel will answer questions about both games, showcase a new reveal for each title, and talk about Sonic's resurgence in the world of gaming.

Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka and the person behind Sonic's wacky and terrific Twitter account will "showcase a new reveal" for "Sonic Mania" and the all-new, untitled Sonic game. Furthermore, the developers will talk about "Sonic's resurgence in the world of gaming" (via NeoGAF), after the broadcast of the new games at Comic-Con last summer.

"Sonic Mania's" Release Date

"Sonic Mania" is slated to come out in spring 2017, while "Project Sonic 2017" is expected to arrive in holiday 2017 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. As for the brand-new Sonic game, almost nothing is known about this just yet, but we do know it's coming to the same platforms and is also due out this year.
