Celebrity, TV personality and "Professor Layton" voice actor Yo Oizumi is in the recently launched ad for the Switch. It is clear that Nintendo was trying to explain the Switch's different modes by using a celebrity to market the model.

Nintendo wants the Switch to be the first thing you reach for when you wake up in the morning -- and the very thing you hold on to for rest of your day. A Japanese star or not, Nintendo is shaking up the status quo with the Switch. Apart from this newly launched ad by a Japanese celebrity, the Switch's big Super Bowl 2017 ad also attracted a great deal of attention.

Celebrity for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has launched its Japanese TV ad campaign with a series of 30-second spots featuring Japanese TV star Yo Oizumi. It shows him using the Switch in his day-to-day dealings as a celebrity, playing the Switch at home and taking it on the road. A scene also showed the actor playing the Switch together with other celebrities during downtime at work. The Switch isn't just for regular gamers; it's for celebrities with busy lives as well, writes Nintendo Today.

Yo Oizumi first made a name for himself in a Hokkaidō-based TV variety series entitled "Suiyō Dōdeshō" (How do you like Wednesday?). "Professor Layton" is a puzzle adventure game series for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS developed by Level-5.

Nintendo Switch Ads

Kotaku's very own Mike Fahey said that the Switch's big Super Bowl 2017 ad showcased the console the way he was hoping to see it. These ads will probably do the exact same for all the other gamers waiting in excitement for the Switch.

Techno Buffalo wrote that according to research firm Ace Metrix, this was the fourth best commercial of the night based on "Attention, Likeability, Relevance, Information, Change, Desire and Watchability." After polling 500 "demographically balanced" people, Ace Metrix published its results on what products got the most success during the 2017 Super Bowl.

The multiplayer Japanese Nintendo Switch ad succeeded because it was relatable. The console is slated for release in March 2017.
