Looks like Nintendo is all set to take the gaming realm by storm. Just a couple of months ago, it debuted the Switch, a newfangled hybrid of portable device home console. It has now shipped about 3 million units, making it the Japanese console maker's most profitable roll-out after the Wii.
While it looked like the Switch may oust Nintendo's line of handheld consoles, or at least push the arrival of a new iteration back, the hardware giant announced a new version of the 2DS in the form of Nintendo 2DS XL. For those unaware, 2DS is actually a revamped version of the 3DS.
According to Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's President and COO, this latest addition to the Nintendo's portable hardware line testify to their dedication to the hand-held segment. The new Nintendo 2DS XL boasts an eye-catching clamshell design while striking a perfect balance between price and performance.
Aside from that, the Nintendo 2DS XL features a 4.88-inch display on top and a 4.18-inch display on the bottom. Plus, it is quite lighter as compared to the 3DS XL and of course, does not feature the machine's stereoscopic competence, TheGuardian reported.
Up for grabs in awe-inspiring color options -- white and orange or black and turquoise, it comes with built-in NFC support for figures and amiibo cards, making it a featured member of the 3DS family in all respects. In addition to offering integrated amiibo support, Eurogamer reported that it boasts New 3DS XL features such as faster processing power and the secondary C-pad nub.
Nintendo 2DS XL Release Date & Price
Nintendo is all set to launch its new Nintendo 2DS XL portable system on July 28 in Europe and considering its retail price of $149 in the U.S., it might come bearing a price tag of anything between £115 and £150 in the UK.
