Users have been waiting in anticipation for the latest Android Nougat update to arrive for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Samsung opted to update their Nougat software a few weeks ago while users waited for the updates and upgrades to be released publicly.

The waiting had to be lengthened as the expected update's release had to be delayed to meet standards of testing. Testing is a vital aspect of a software upgrade as it gives the developers an opportunity to stop and cease any bugs from coming into the devices prior to their installation on them. In a statement to Express UK, an EE Spokesperson said that "Like the majority of UK networks, we're working with Samsung and hope to have an approved nougat O/S file to roll out to our Galaxy S7 customers shortly."

Despite the announcement, the future looks dim for Nougat users. Pending the release of the latest update to Nougat, Google has already begun testing a newer version of Android. This implies that Nougat is set to be out of date even prior to its release.

Android Nougat 7.1.2 is currently downloadable on Google's own devices. However, it is unlikely the users will be able to enjoy the feature of this new update anytime soon. According to Google via a blog post, the new update comes with a number of bug fixes and improvements, along with some enhancements for the user's benefit. Likewise, the latest beta version is available today for those who have signed-up for the Android Beta Program.

The bad news for Samsung fans and users is that, upon the release of Google's next-generation operating system (rumored to be 'Android O'), the Nougat will certainly be a thing of the past. This speculation is fueled by Google's announcement last year of the release of their latest operating system. Whether this will prove detrimental to Samsung's already struggling brand is uncertain. For now, only time can tell.
