The price of the critically acclaimed adventure game "The Last Guardian" has now been dropped from $60 to $40 permanently as confirmed by Sony. The new price, which is 33 percent cheaper, is now the official price point for the PlayStation 4 adventure title, which features a young boy with his cat-dog-bird creature pal Trico.
The price point of $40 for "The Last Guardian" has been made available in all stores where the title is sold digitally or physically. Fans can head to Amazon, PlayStation Store, GameStop and Best Buy to purchase it.
"The Last Guardian" had been in development for years and had been feared that it might be canceled but it was finally launched in December 2016 and director Fumito Ueda has acknowledged the game's twists and turns production and commented that it took longer than expected. GameSpot reviewed the game and gave a score of 9/10.
Reviewer Peter Brown said that it's unknown whether or not "The Last Guardian" has been intended to be upsetting at times or it could be an effort to test the players' patience for a lovable yet stubborn Trico. "Your affection for Trico and sympathy for both characters blossom nonetheless, culminating in an enrapturing series of revelations that cements your attachment to their personalities," Brown said.
He went on to say that Trico is indeed the star of the game that exhibits realistic physicality and emotional range but the boy is an important lesson on how to be patient and tough in the middle of unexpected trials. TechnoBuffalo also commented that Trico may be hard to deal with but "The Last Guardian" is a wonderful game that PS4 owners should not miss.
"The Last Guardian" was developed by SIE Japan Studio and published by Sony for the PlayStation 4 console. Ueda shared his previous titles' gameplay, stylistic and thematic elements of the game, which he applied the ‘design through subtraction'.
