Sam Heughan became a household name after starring in the Starz time traveler series "Outlander" as Jamie Fraser. While the 36-year-old actor is currently busy filming for the upcoming season of the show, various reports are claiming that Heughan is being poised to play as the new James Bond and even be the next doctor in "Doctor Who."

"Outlander" Season 3 is in the middle of production and set photos of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are making rounds on the internet. While production for the new season of the Starz drama is expected to be completed soon, several reports are suggesting on Heughan's projects once production for the series ends.

Heughan is reportedly being poised to play as the next James Bond actor after Daniel Craig. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the "Outlander" actor is joining the growing list of actors who are being tipped to play the role such as Aiden Turner.

Several fans expressed their support to see Heughan play the role of James Bond once he is done filming his scenes for "Outlander" Season 3. However, the producers behind the 007 movies have not yet confirmed whether Craig will be vacating the role and whether they have another actor in mind for the next movie.

Carter Matt also notes that Heughan's name is being cited as one of the possible doctors to join "Doctor Who," as the series recently saw the departure of one of its main characters. According to the publication, Heughan sparked controversy when he expressed his interest in joining the series via a Twitter post.

This led to speculations that Heughan may leave his role in "Outlander" in order to join "Doctor Who." However, the publication notes that Heughan will not likely leave his role in the Starz drama since he is playing the lead unlike if he were to join the BBC series.
