The iPhone 5 release date is just around the corner. You can tell it with all the bits and pieces of the device that have been leaking out recently. The newest piece of the iPhone 5 to hit the Web, is the battery, which according to rumors is bigger in size, capacity, and voltage. However, don't get too excited in the capacity bump. It is just an increase of 10mAH, which is not a lot.
The bump in battery capacity could be due to the rumored larger 4-inch display, and 4G LTE that is expected to bring the iPhone 5 to life. But a bump of just 10mAh might not be enough to keep up with heavy LTE usage on a 4-inch display, unless Apple has done some tweaking to the overall operating system to help with battery consumption.
We suspect Apple could have put a larger capacity battery in the device, but doing so would make for a bigger and heavier iPhone than what the company is aiming for. Then again, the battery seen here might not be for the LTE equipped iPhone 5 - we've heard rumors of two type of iPhone 5 devices, one well tricked out with LTE, while the other thrusting along with 4G HSPA+.
A closer look at the picture and you'll notice the date June 2012, this is likely the date the batteries were manufactured, which also means the iPhone 5 launch is not too far away. Speculations are rife about a September or November release date for the iPhone 5, but whatever the date may be, there is no doubt in our mind the iPhone 5 will dominate sales despite strong competition from Microsoft and Nokia with Windows Phone 8, or Google and Samsung with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Which will you be getting - the iPhone 5, a Nokia-branded Windows Phone 8 handset, or the newest Android 4.1 device from Samsung?
