The cast and crew of "Outlander" season 3 are currently filming upcoming episodes in South Ayrshire -- and it appears the team has made quite a progress. Diana Gabaldon, author of the books from where the show was based, has confirmed in a series of tweets while dropping spoilers.

"It's really good! The first five episodes are complete (not post-production, but most shooting done), and terrific," the novelist said of the "Outlander" season 3 filming on Twitter. Another fan asked Gabaldon how she feels about the new season so far, to which she replied that "Voyager," the third book where season 3 is based, is "much more straight-forward story than DRAGONFLY- easier to adapt."

The author was referring to the second book from where season 2 was adapted, "Dragonfly in Amber." Based on the novelist's tweets, it looks like "Outlander" season 3 will be closer to "Voyager;" that is, more source-accurate.

As previously reported by MobileNApps, massive sets have been already erected in Dunure, Ayrshire. The village's coastline has once again been transformed into a charming film set for "Outlander" season 3.

In other news, Executive Producer Matthew B. Roberts continue to drop "Outlander" season 3 spoilers, teasing fans with bits of info on what's to come. The EP once again confirmed how he makes the award-winning time travel drama his priority, giving fans and readers of the "Outlander" books a mini activity once the new season airs.

In a tweet, Roberts told fans to watch out for "well-placed nuggets" throughout the episodes. The EP added that the treasure hunt will come in the form of both verbal and visual references.

The cast and crew will be heading to South Africa after their Scotland stint. The new season will begin with the Battle of Culloden in Scotland for Sam's character Jamie, and a flashback for Caitriona's Claire in Boston, US. "Outlander" season 3 is expected to premiere this spring.
