Sid Meier's "Civilization VI" mods are still being worked on. Here are the details from Firaxis.
Sid Meier's "Civilization VI" was launched at the end of October in 2016. After three long months, "Civilization VI" has still no Steam Workshop integration, or even official mod tools. Several players had already raised concerns and wonder if Firaxis has forgotten about the mods. Moreover, Firaxis assured viewers on a recent livestream that modders will be on their way soon.
The SDK of Sid Meier's "Civilization VI" is not out yet. However, recently, there are many modders who have taken things into their own hands. In the latest video clip shared to Reddit by ConsiderableNames, Pete Murray, Firaxis producer said that they have received a lot of questions from the community on the addition of multiplayer teams, Steam Workshop and the mod tools. He further stated that the team is working on it and as soon as he has more information to share, that he will definitely do so.
While there are plenty of "Civilization VI" modders who have gone ahead without Firaxis's official SDK, the toolkit plus Steam integration assures ample of advantages. In theory, modders should get easier access to the game's functions, uploading and a huge user base, plus convenient packaging. On the other hand, for players, Steam Workshop connotes automatic updates and one-click subscriptions to mods.
Perhaps Firaxis, as of the moment, is taking most of its time developing the most awaited mods as well as the Steam workshop. Keeping people engaged between irregular spurts of DLC in the hopes of extending the game's lifespan is a losing situation. Fans of Sid Meier's "Civilization VI" are hoping that the extra time the developers are taking is for the toolkit to be as best as possible, says PCGamesn.
