Microsoft could be just days away from unveiling the highly anticipated Surface Pro 5, if a sudden price drop for its precursor, the Surface Pro 4 is anything to go by. Tech enthusiasts can now get their hands on the Surface Pro 4 by shelling out only $799.
Some optimistic tech pundits attribute this inviting deal to an impending arrival of Microsoft's Surface Pro 5. The Redmond-based tech giant's US online store, according to GSM Arena, now sells the Pro 4 for $100 less.
The current generation Surface Pro 4 packs Intel Core m3 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. However, would-be buyers should bear in mind that the deal does not comprise the Surface Pen.
2017 is expected to be an important year for Microsoft with a slew of devices including the Surface Book 2 and Surface Phone 2017 scheduled to hit the store shelves. Microsoft also plans to release the Windows 10 Creators Update, which allows users to access devices like PC, thanks to the Continuum mode. That being said, it is the next device in the Microsoft's Surface Pro lineup is that is likely to be one of the company's most prominent devices this year.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is slated to undergo a few radical upgrades from its predecessor. It will boast UltraHD resolution which let users watch videos and play games in high details, according to Express.
Moreover, the device will offer certain features bearing creative professionals in mind. Sporting a 12.3-inch screen, the highly portable device will be housed in a lightweight aluminum body.
As far as timing is concerned, Microsoft recently rolled out the beta of the impending update to Windows 10. The update hints at a possible integration of third-party apps such as enhanced 3D tools, VR (virtual reality), and mixed reality. Another major update to Windows 10 is scheduled to arrive later in 2017. The said update will center on mobile compatibility.
Under the hood, the Surface Pro 5 is likely to pack Intel's seventh-generation Core processors, the Kaby Lake chips, which are becoming available in larger quantities, and offers a swarm of processing improvements in speed and graphics, but essentially they offer enhanced battery life for mobile devices.
A larger battery is quite essential for the Surface Pro 5 and the connectivity with mobile devices is also likely. Aside from that, tethering and hot-spot connectivity with mobile devices could be in the offing. But that's not all; multiple sources are now claiming that it will come with a wireless charging-enabled Surface Pen stylus.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come with a colossal 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Microsoft is expected to roll out the Windows 10 Creators Update before launching the Surface device.
