Microsoft is gearing up to unveil a brand spanking new version of its much-lauded Surface tablet dubbed, Microsoft Surface Pro 5. The long awaited flagship convertible 2-in-1 is slated to hit the store shelves before the end of March 2017.
The rumor mill has been churning all sorts of speculations around the highly anticipated successor to Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 indicating that it will arrive in spring 2017. Now, some alleged manufacturing partners have added fuel to the already burning rumors about the upcoming 2-in-1 detachable's release date and other details.
Microsoft has roped in Pegatron to take care of the manufacturing responsibilities of its upcoming Surface Pro 5, according to report from a Chinese Economic Daily News (via DigiTimes). The purported Surface Pro 5 2-in-1 will come with a UHD 4K display, coupled with magnetic charging stylus.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Specs & Features
The Redmond-based tech giant launched the Surface Pro 5's predecessor, the Pro 4 back on October 26, 2015. The fourth-gen Surface-series 2-in-1 detachable sported 12.3-inch PixelTouch display with 2736x1824 pixel resolution, paired with 3:2 aspect ratio. A 0.4mm thick Corning Gorilla Glass 4 provided added protection to the display. The Surface Pro 4 also featured a Surface Pen that arrived with an eraser and had a capacity of detecting 1,024 points of pressure.
The Surface Pro 4 packs Intel's 6th-generation Core processors -- Core M3, Core i5, and Core i7. The said configuration continues to draw power from Intel HD Graphics 515, Intel HD Graphics 520, and Intel Iris Graphics respectively.
In terms of connectivity, the Surface Pro 4 ships with a Mini DisplayPort, a Type Cover port, SurfaceConnect port, USB 3.0 port, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5-mm headset jack. According to Microsoft, the Surface Pro 4 offers up to 9 hours of video playback and has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front snapper for the selfie addicts.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be powered by Intel's Kaby Lake processors, and since the sturdy gadget needs the aforesaid higher performance chips, Intel is likely to announce it at next week's CES 2017. Aside from Processor, the Surface Pro 5 will sport a 4K Ultra-HD display that facilitates super-crisp rendering. In addition, it will pack 512GB+ SSDs and USB-C as well as Thunderbolt 3.
There's word that the device's stylus will no longer use a replaceable battery, but will be automatically rechargeable when it's docked.
